He Was A Quiet Man ... What They're Saying

from TIMEOUT.com ...

"Visually arresting, structurally inventive and entirely unpredictable, the film plays like the bastard child of Fight Club, Brazil, and Amelie, and has the potential to be a genuine cult hit..."

... in spite of the fact that he had just 20 days to shoot the film, he's (Cappello) managed to hit one out of the park right off the bat...

... it marks a return to form for Christian Slater, who dons a wig and bad teeth to give a truly grandstanding performance as the increasingly unhinged Maconel...

from SCREEN DAILY.com ...

Screening in the Spotlight Premiere section of SXSW, He Was A Quiet Man is an excellent, unpredictable and often extremely witty film ...

...director Cappello, who has had a long career as a special-effects supervisor and who also wrote the script, is so consistently inventive that the audience never has any idea where the story will head next...

"Slater as a homicidal, archly resentful nerd is superb, using his whole, twisted body, often with the aid of an extreme wide-angle lens, to express the inner workings of Bob's sick mind"..."

from PRO-NETWORKS.org ...

...I enjoyed it and was writing a review in my head, as I often do, when the film took an unexpected turn that I was not prepared for. In the end, I found myself comparing this film to some of my favorites, but to even say what they are would be spoilers...

He Was A Quiet Man ... Screening News

April 19,2007...

He Was A Quiet Man was screened on the closing night (April 19th) of the Gen Art Festival in New York to enthusiastic reviews. Christian, Elisha, Sascha, and Jamison were all there.

March 15, 2007...

The Los Angeles premiere was Thursday, March 15 at the Wilshire Fine Arts Theater and it was a great night! Other than Christian (working in New Mexico) and Bill (off in South America), the entire cast was there. We had a great time afterwards at the Four Seasons where we almost got kicked out several times for using a flash in the bar. (I guess they have a strict policy since so many illicit affairs transpire there).

March 11, 2007 ...

Happy and relieved to say that 'Quiet Man' premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin on March 11 to great reviews (see links at sidebar). There were about 1100 people present, along with myself, Christian, Guligar (the fish voice and psychiatrist), and Jamison Jones. Most stayed for the Q&A after. The party after was unfortunately hampered by rain, but we still had a pretty good crowd.
